Pre Jan 10th meeting phone conference Date: Monday, December 03, 2001 4 PM Present: Shazhad, Chip, Torre, Doug, Andy, Mike, Ruth, Reagan GDMP and PPDG: Shazhad: project is having a code review. Message passing system is being recoded to include replies to each request. Scheduled for release over the next 2 or 3 weeks. GDMP release 2.2. which will be in a month or two. Planning to use a Host certificate instead of a gdmp service certificate. Shazhad is working on this. Start work on the GSUI user interface - point and click. Andy: discussing open framework for introducing new protocols as part of the new architecture. Protocols for catalogs explicitly. Would be open to negotiation with Globus. PPDG work with WP2. Put PPDG contributions to WP2 on the agenda for January 10th. Replication Requirements document: Mike will check if there is the effort/expectation to update this document before Jan 10th. End to End Error reporting/handling: Noone is doing the errors in a systematic way. We can discuss whether it is possible to do this in a systematic way. Can't do this at this stage. Reliable File transfer component in Globus: will be a complete standalone file transfer layer below replication. Replication will be built on top of this layer. Reliable queued requests even without the catalog. Would then have another queuing mechanism above this. Regarded as PPDG work. Protyping stage. Queuing requests that are persistent across dissapearance of client and/or server. Requirements and/or design document available for Jan 10th. Effort in LBL on this too. Coordinate the work between them. No schedule to date. Atlas would be happy to try this out. Would also apply as MOP production would be able to transfer arbitrary data between sites. Is this on the GDMP work plan - answer from PeterK. later in the week is "yes". SRB: still providing additional capabilities beyond GridFTP. Another possibility to have a parallel protocol to GridFTP to handle the extensions. Building GridFTP protocol on top of a SRB collection. Some later email exchange on this. WSDL interface on top of SRB. Standard SOAP protocol and WSDL infrastructure. standard protocol of highest level - is this of interest to the community. or at the bottom. What capabilities need to be provided by a Replication Service. HRM interface document would be ready for posting on 25th Dec. Proposal to accept this as a PPDG white paper. Joint PPDG/SRM/EDG - Ruth will check. Dec 10th Phone con: Data Grid Architecture reference. Dec 17th Phone con: WP2 design. No dec 24th or 31st phone con Jan 7th Phone con: Goals for deliverables from Jan 10th meeting Ruth
