CS-11 Workshop, Grid interface to interactive
analysis tools
San Diego, UCSD
20-21 March 2003 (just before CHEP
conference)
Minutes (doc, pdf)
Goal
Describe a set of interfaces needed by interactive analysis tools on
the grid. This will involve evaluating existing interfaces from other
grid services from the point of view of interactive analysis, suggesting
extensions to such interfaces or creating additional interfaces as needed. We
will try to use OGSA terminology (but we are not real OGSA experts yet)
so "service description" is equivalent to "API".
We expect to leave with a list of what needed service descriptions (old
form: APIs), a general description of each and pseudo-code
drafts of at
least
two
specific
services:
- generic access to datasets.
- access to results including partial results and collating of
results from multiple servers.
Reading list: - please review before meeting

There will be wireless and wired network available. Anyone planning
to use wireless MUST send the MAC address of your
wireless adapter ahead of time to dlolson@lbl.gov.
Accomodations
Lodging reservations are up to each attendee. We assume that most people
will be attending the CHEP conference and just extend those reservations.
Location
VRVS Universe/Earth/Island Virtual Room
UCSD, Mayer Hall, room 5310 (physics department)
Directions:
Coming on I-5 from the airport and points south exit on Gilman Drive
and Turn Left at the end of the ramp.
Coming on I-5 from points north exit on Gilman and Turn Right.
You will drive through two stop lights on Gilman. As you enter campus
there will be a parking office on the right directly before a four way
stop. Stop at this office and buy a parking permit.
Parking is well regulated
and tickets are expensive. Also ask for a campus map.
At the four way stop turn left and proceed through two more stop signs.
At the first opportunity to turn right after the second stop, turn right
and park. On the opposite corner of the parking lot from the entrance
you will find a large sidewalk. Take this until you come to a quad. Mayer
Hall is on the far corner of this quad. Go to the top floor. 5310 is
accessible from the balcony.
