CS-1: Job Description Languages and Dictionaries
Each experiment Grid data handling system includes Job
Description and Resource Management mechanisms to support co-scheduling and
co-management of data processing and delivery. In the spirit of PPDG we will
work to leverage common and/or reusable job description and resource
management languages and interfaces both at the User level and the underlying
Middleware service layer.
PPDG Job scheduling is through GRAM using RLS as the
resource management language. Most experiments use Condor-G as the grid
job scheduler and ClassADs as the management language. The European Data Grid
WP1 also uses ClassAds and Condor-G in this role.
Data and Job placement and execution dependencies are
expressed through DAGs.
Portals are the preferred end user method for interfacing
to Job Services. All experiments in addition require command line interfaces to
the system to support automation, application interfaces, diagnostics etc.
